EverCoral
Hello! I am EverCoral, a mechanical engineering student at Colorado School of Mines. My hobbies include Java Development, 3D Printing, and Minecraft. I like learning about people and making deep connections. Questions don't offend me, so feel free to ask whatever you want :3
INTERESTS.CFG
I started playing THE FINALS in freshman year of college, it is an FPS game played in the context of a "Ready Player One"-like universe taking place in a virtual game-show called "THE FINALS." The game grew on me quickly after my first round, and I've been in love with it since. I am a medium class main, playing with the CL-40, Model 1887, or P90, and use the Shockwave specialization._
I started playing Minecraft in 2012 when my older brother showed it to me; the community has been a huge part of my life ever since. I loved all aspects of the game, becoming good at PvP, building, redstone, and plugin development. _
I have always enjoyed having something to keep my hands busy, and would consider myself a "maker". Since I was a small child, I would help my father out with many projects in our garage/wood shop. In fall of 2019, I was introduced to 3D Printing, and while I don't have that initial machine anymore, I have a Bambu Labs A1 with AMS that I used regularly up until I moved to college. Once at CSM, I joined the Maker Society and became a member of leadership. _
Java Development
I develop mainly in Java, it is an object-oriented language and easy to work with. Most of my projects are Minecraft plugins, but I also work with Discord applications/bots. I started learning Java in February 2023 and picked it up quickly.
Web Development
I do a little bit of web development, this website is an example of that. The majority of my web development is the backends for a couple of projects, they are done in SpringBoot. While I own the ClickCrystals domain and repository, I am not the active maintainer for it. _
Youtube/Media
STEM channels like Hacksmith Industries, styropyro, SciShow, carykh, Technology Connections, and colinfurze are my favorites. I also watch other content such as technical Minecraft videos, like mattbatwings or craftymasterman.
I don't movies all that often, but I mainly am interested in science fiction or action/adventure films. My favorite film is Interstellar, and my favorite franchise is The Lord of the Rings.
Marching/Concert Band
I play the tuba in the Colorado School of Mines marching band, previously having played in my high school's marching band. Band has defined a lot of my social life, and provides me a sense community where it may be hard for me to find naturally. The act of working together in a large group for a common goal is an incredible feeling, and the experience of Texas high school marching band is one like no other.
Fountain Pens
I was introduced to fountain pens as a hobby in my sophomore year of college. Writing with them has since become my default method for journaling, note-taking, and signing documents. As of writing, I have a Pilot Kakuno (Coral, medium), Metropolitian (Purple, fine), and a custom-built design with Purple Heart and Teak wood (medium). I use inks from Lamy Studios, Tom's Studio, and Iroshizuku.
Balisong Flipping
Balisong (butterfly knife) flipping is a hobby I picked up in high school when I got a 3D printer. I initially started out using other peoples' designs, but eventually began making my own designs in Fusion360, then later in SolidWorks. My collection includes a Flytanium U.F.O. (Blue) an LDY Orion 2.0 (Dark Green), and an LDY Kite (Reverse Tanto + Pink, pictured right), along with various 3D Printed designs.
Lock Picking
I have had an interest in both physical and cybersecurity for a while, and recently got the Echelon lock pick set from CovertInstruments. It is a useful skill to learn, and I've had a lot of fun with it. You would be surprised how awful many of the "high security" locks you find at the hardware store are. _
